Electricity prices are significantly higher than in Europe. So it’s an ideal place for renewable energies - and there is no shortage of either wind or sunshine. The government of the island state has become the first in west Africa to pass a renewable energy law. The legislation is supported by Ecreee, an organization of 15 west African states. The Funaná [funɐˈna] is a music and dance genre from Cape Verde. Funaná is an accordion-based music. It is perhaps the most upbeat form of Cape Verdean music. The rhythm is usually provided by the ferrinho much like the use of washboards in zydeco, the saw in Caribbean ripsaw music, the scraper in Sub-Saharan African music and the güiro in Latin and Pre-Columbian music.
